Cluster Meeting

Dear people,

Lent is upon us and there is much to be celebrated as well as to prepare for.  From the Synod, our parish has received a thank-you certificate for our mission support, some three grand given to the greater ministry of the larger church. That is fantastic! We’ll hang up that Synod thank-you on the bulletin board Sunday.

If you have a confirmation student, remember this Sunday is also the beginning of the month of March already, and class will meet in Valatie at 6pm.

THIS Monday, March 3rd, there is a planning meeting for the May 1st CROP Walk. Check the website http://hunger.cwsglobal.org/site/PageServer?pagename=crop_main and get excited! We’ve got the 4th largest walk in the county, and for the number of people we have an excellent track record of raising money to support the local food banks.  Monday’s meeting will distribute the money to those local ministries, too. Even if you’re just the littlest bit curious, come and check it out. If you know anyone who needs service hours, this is a great way to get them.

Also, because we’re the awesomest, our synod gets to participate in a ‘Vitality survey,’ for free, and change the way we ‘measure’ congregational growth and health. More on that later, just keep your ears and eyes open for the Spirit in the meantime, for those stories of where and how God has been moving in this community, so we can spread around the encouragement!

Vote

We will be having a congregational vote on March 9th to approve the expenditure of $5,234.56 to purchase a new furnace on the office side of the Parish house. The funds will come out of the Improvement Fund.  Since the purchase is over $2,000.00 we need congregational approval.

2014 Lenten Season

2014 – The CAPA Lenten Series – Theme:      “Restored in Christ”

The season of Lent is a time for us to face together the brokenness of our lives and our world.  Only then can we turn that brokenness over to Christ so that we can be restored by him through the cross.  Each Wednesday in this series focuses on an event in the Lenten story and takes a hard look at a broken element from that particular story.  Coming to an understanding of how each of these broken elements leads to restoration in Christ is key to understanding what it ultimately means to live today as new creations in Christ.

Looking for items for Pastor

Pastor is looking for used items or new for her home. When asked, Rev. Angela replied:

“I suppose I could use some bookshelves, a lamp or two, and some floor runners for that main room or a small area rug for the bedroom, maybe a bathmat and shower curtain? Probably dish soap, dish drainer, sponge?”

Got anything?
