Vicar Roger Behrens

Hello to all of the wonderful people who are part of the newly formed Tri-County Lutheran Parish. My name is Roger Behrens and I am so happy to be a part of this group as I begin the final stage of my educational journey, internship. I have been working to fulfill my academic requirements toward completing my Masters of Divinity at Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota. Most of this has been through their on-line (Distributed Learning) program. I am pleased to say that after three plus years I finished my final academic class this past June!

rogerBehrensMy high-school sweetheart, Vicki, joins me in my life journey. We have been married for 39 years and blessed with two children. Stephanie will be finishing up her Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy at St. Mary’s College in Omaha, Nebraska. Christopher is a pilot in the United States Air Force currently stationed in Germany. He is married to Jessica and they have blessed us with two adorable grandchildren, Katelyn (5 yrs. old), and Levi (3 yrs. old).

We are both originally from a small farm community in Nebraska. I spent 20 years serving in the United States Army and retired in 1997, and a 5-year period working for Union Pacific Railroad. Working as a Project Manager for technical solutions brought us New York 15 years ago. The past 6 months I have enjoyed working as a Chaplain at Albany Medical Center. Vicki has been a teacher’s aide since 1989 and currently enjoys her work in the Shenendehowa School District as a Special Education Teachers Aide.

On a personal note, I enjoy playing golf, singing in the choir, and before my schooling began I did a good amount of hiking and canoeing. Vicki and I also enjoy our date night by ballroom dancing.

I really enjoy developing and building relationships and so I look forward to learning about each and every one of you throughout this next year.
